Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for this service?

We provide cookies for foster children, unhoused children, and birth children of active foster parents that are under the age of 19.

What information do you need about the child?

We just need the child's first name and birthday.

What types of occasions may we request cookies for?

We offer cookies to celebrate birthdays, high school graduations, and adoptions.

What dates do you serve? Are there any blackout dates?

We understand that birthdays happen every day, so there are no blackout dates. During the holiday season we simply ask that your applications be turned in two months prior so that we can plan accordingly for this busier time.

What kind of treats do you offer?

Party Cookies (For the Celebration), Class/Group Cookies (to take to school, daycare, church, Etc.), or a cookie cake.

What dietary restrictions do you offer?

We will be able to offer gluten sensitive, but keep in mind that it would be for the whole order and not just a couple of the cookies. We are working on partnering with volunteer bakers who will be 100% GF.

What kinds of decorations or themes can we choose?

When choosing your theme please keep in mind that exact decoration will be based on the skill level of our volunteer baker. Due to copyright laws specific characters may not be on cookies, but we will try to include them the best we can. For example, specific shapes and colors may be used instead.

What if a child is placed with us less than a month before their birthday?

We encourage you to fill out the form and each delayed order will be on a case by case basis, based on if we have a volunteer that could take an order at the last minute.

Who can request cookies for a child?

Foster parents and case managers for foster children (birth children of foster parents), parents or guardians for unhoused children.

Can I put applications in for all my children at the same time?

Yes! We encourage you to plan early.

How many times may a child participate?

We ask that children only participate once a year, they can participate each year if they are eligible. If they have more than one occasion in a year, then they must choose which one they would like us to help them celebrate.

Can my birth children also participate?

Yes, as long as you are an active foster parent – meaning you have current foster children in your home.

How do we communicate with the bakers?

For the privacy of the children and the bakers all communication with be with either your case manager or an employee from Heart to Heart Cookies.

Who provides the cookies?

Volunteer bakers that have been vetted by Heart to Heart Cookies, some may be local bakeries and others may be HBV (Homebased vendors) that follow state guidelines.

How far in advance do we have to place our order?

Please place cookie orders one month in advance, or two months in advance for orders needed in February, November, and December.

What happens if my child moves before we receive their cookies?

If your child were to be reunited or move in with another foster family, we would do our best to work with the case manager to see if we still get these cookies for the child. If we cannot then we will cancel the order with the volunteer baker. It is our main goal to make sure that the children can receive and enjoy the cookies.

Who will deliver the cookies?

We will deliver cookies to your agency; they will then help you to arrange pick up or drop off.

How do you control the quality of the cookies being provided?

Each volunteer baker will be vetted by Heart to Heart Cookies, a photo will also be requested from each baker before the order is dropped off at the agency. We will match orders with bakers based on their skill level.
